JILL (ZIMMERMAN) HEAVNER

Jill Zimmerman Heavner grew up in Osceola,
Indiana and is heavily inspired by the art
work of her family. Her Great-Grandfather,
Arthur E Hartig and his daughters, Beatrice
Zimmerman and Genevieve Toth were
widely acclaimed professional artists.

Heavner took art classes throughout grade
school and high school.  At Penn High
School her art teacher was her Great Aunt
Genevieve Toth, professionally known as
Geni Toth.  A lot of Heavner’s personal
success can be attributed to Toth’s
techniques and teachings.

Heavner went to Purdue University where
she aspired to be a Medical Illustrator.  She
took classes in Art and Design and Live
Model Drawing, Mechanical Engineering
Drawing and Perspective.

Jill’s art illustrations may be seen in her
father’s poetry books.  Heavner says
“My father is my best critic and a great
source of inspiration”.

Jill is a member of the Northern Indiana
Artists, the Saint Joseph Valley Watercolor
Society and Studio Arts.  She regularly
creates watercolor and oil paintings with her
Aunt Jean (Zimmerman) Magrane.

Jill is currently taking classes at Studio
Arts and honing art skills under the tutelage
of David Allen.  She has   received JUDGES
AWARD for “Winter Sun” (2007 oil painting)
in a Northern Indiana Artists exhibit
at Studio Arts Center.
