David Allen
Dave Allen has been painting all his life, but it wasn't until Dave was forty-five that he started to receive recognition for his unique paintings. He is well-known as a 'city-scape' painter. Drive around South Bend day or night, cold or hot and you are likely to find Dave with his easel set up painting scenes that others may have never noticed.


Anne Binder
Anne Binder is a calligrapher, papermaker, and book artist. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout the United States and Canada. Her works are a part of both private and public collections. Anne is also Executive Director of Studio Art Classes.

Anne teaches on a local, national, and international level. She developed and taught accredited classes in the lettering and book arts at Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana. She travels to calligraphic guilds and artist societies to teach classes on letterforms, the book arts, and painting techniques.

Adham Halsaver
A picture framer and graphic designer by trade, Adham has been facilitating the Monday night figure drawing sessions for Studio Arts for five years. He is an accomplished artist with a particularly fine eye and hand. He works in several media including color pencil, graphite, charcoal, pastel, and paint. Adham also creates the marketing and promotional graphics for Studio Art Classes.

Louise Johannesen
With more than 20 years of teaching classes and workshops, and a longer history of exhibiting in national and regional juried competitions with numerous awards, Louise will be teaching in this area again after
moving back from Utah a second time. Her work is multi-faceted in subject matter and use of materials. She is best known for her detailed nature studies and specialty in portraiture. Many original pages of helpful guidelines are given out in each class for permanent reference and application. With a practical and serious approach to technique, she emphasizes personal vision and promotes joy in the process.

Cathy McCormick
Catherine McCormick has taught lessons in pastels and drawing for more than 15 years. She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she studied art. She has worked in oils, watercolors, mixed media and photography, but pastels have been her favorite medium since 1986.  Her work has been featured in many shows, and she has coordinated more than a dozen exhibits, workshops and art conferences.

Her art is featured in galleries in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona, and many private collections around the country.

Gina Mitchell
Gina Mitchell's exquisitely detailed watercolors are among the most recognized images by local artists. Her works has been exhibited in many regional art venues and her prints are sold by numerous local businesses. Watercolorist, designer, Girl Scout leader, mother and community volunteer, she also worked as an Art Director and freelance graphic designer after studying fine art at Indiana University. Gina is a member of the Northern Indiana Artists and the Saint Joseph Valley Watercolor Society.

Heather Murray
Heather is, by profession, a ceramics and drawing instructor who earned  her BFA from Northern Michigan University and a MFA from Michigan State University. She also studied and earned a Masters in Cross-cultural studies at Gordon Conwell in Boston. Heather has taught all age levels. She taught at the International school in Istanbul, Turkey where she lived from 1988-2000. While living in Turkey she studied Islamic art. Her work has been influenced by art from Eastern cultures.

She does not concentrate only on the techniques, but hopes to encourage her students to look for what is meaningful while creating.

Joseph Schultz
Joseph Schultz began his career in art after serving four years in the US Navy. A correspondence course, one year at the South Bend Art Center, and a year at Ivy Tech's first year school for commercial art, prepared Joe for working at a local advertising agency and later to running his own studio. After thirty-four years, Joe retired from commercial work to immerse himself in painting.

As a member of the Hoosier Salon and Northern Indiana Artists, Joe has experienced success in sales and awards from exhibitions.

Dan Slattery
Daniel F. Slattery practiced law for 18 years before pursuing his passion for watercolor professionally. Slattery uses control and detail to capture dramatic effects of light and color. His artwork has included portraits, landscapes and seascapes, as well as book and magazine illustration. Although based in South Bend, Indiana Slattery's subjects range geographically beyond Indiana to Michigan, North Carolina, Illinois, Minnesota, Califomia, Washington and Ireland.

Leslie Straniero, BFA
Leslie graduated with honors from Indiana University South Bend with a BFA in painting. She continued her study of drawing and painting with master portrait painter Harry Ahn as well as with Diane Tesler, Alexandra, VA. Leslie's work has been widely exhibited earning numerous awards. She has taught painting and drawing classes in the Michiana area for five years and sincerely believes with enough inspiration and work, everyone can become an artist. Leslie is also the Education Director of Studio Art Classes.

Vincent Dominello
Vincent Ivan Dominello is an accomplished fine artist who has been recognized by the Midwest Museum of Art and other regional art associations for his chalk pastel and oil landscapes. His style could best be described as slightly impressionistic, focused on creating atmosphere by contrasting warm and cool colors. Detail in his work is important, but this receives less emphasis when Vince is exploring color and composition. He specializes in dramatic landscapes depicted during various seasons and times of day. The South Bend native is a graduate of St. Joseph's High who continued his love for drawing by attending Indiana University, South Bend, which excels in the area of fine art. In 1993, he earned a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, and then went on to manage custom art framing shops in Mishawaka and Elkhart.
